Waffles are a great way to get healthy starch into your diet. They’re delicious and you can make them as sweet or savoury as you like with the unlimited combination of toppings. An instant hit for any breakfast menu.


  • 270g buckwheat flour/ or flour of choice
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder (1.5 tsp if using white flour)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  •  3 tablespoons maple syrup
  •  3 tbsp ground flaxseed or 1/2 banana
  • 4 tablespoons almond butter
  • 450ml Rice milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence


  • Turn on waffle iron
  • In a blender, blend together till smooth homogenous texture
  • Once waffle iron is hot – spray with oil, to prevent the waffle from sticking to the waffle iron
  • Pour in waffle batter ensuring you have added enough batter to cover the full iron leaving room for the waffle to rise slightly
  • Cook in the waffle iron until nice and brown
  • Turn to ensure both sides are well cooked
    Serve with your favourite topping – we served with coconut yoghurt, our Nutty Fella and berries!
