Homemade Wholefood Chocolate Protein Powder

This is an easy, 100% natural plant-based protein powder made entirely from real seeds, nuts, and cacao. It’s free from synthetic isolates, gums, artificial sweeteners, and industrial processing, this clean batch mix delivers.

Takes 5 minutes

Serves 12

Ingredients

  • 100 g ¾ cup raw pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
  • 70 g ⅓ cup shelled hemp seeds (hemp hearts)
  • 50 g ⅓ cup whole raw almonds, with skin intact
  • 40 g ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 30 g 3 tbsp whole or ground flaxseeds (linseeds)
  • 20 g 3 tbsp pure cacao powder or cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar or date sugar optional

Instructions

  • Grind the dry ingredients: Add the almonds, chia seeds, flaxseeds, cacao powder, sea salt and optional coconut sugar to a high-speed blender or food processor. Blend for 10–15 seconds, until finely ground and flour-like.
  • Add the seeds: Add the pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds to the blender.
  • Pulse to combine: Pulse in short 1–2 second bursts until the seeds are finely broken down and everything is well combined. Be careful not to over-blend, as the nuts and seeds can release their oils and turn into a paste.
  • Store: Transfer the powder to a clean, dry airtight glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 8 weeks.
  • To serve: Add 30g (about 3 level tbsp) of the protein powder to 250ml (1 cup) cold soy milk or another high-protein plant milk. Add to a shaker bottle, shake vigorously for around 20 seconds and enjoy.
